Indigenizing Atlantic Canada's Screen Sector
Indigenizing Atlantic Canada's Screen Sector
Currently, Atlantic Canada's screen sector lacks Indigenous representation, both on and off screen. This has resulted in a lack of diversity and inclusivity in the industry, and Indigenous creators and professionals have limited opportunities to establish themselves in the sector.
The NFI was created to address this issue and provide Indigenous creators and crew with the guidance and professional development necessary to succeed in the industry.
Our aim is to establish a sustainable Indigenous-led screen sector that offers abundant opportunities for Indigenous creators, crew, and professionals to establish a strong and lasting presence in the industry.
We seek to amplify Indigenous representation both on-screen and behind the camera, and to cultivate an environment of support and inclusivity for Indigenous creators, crew, and professionals.
With our training programs, collaborations, and entry-level positions, we intend to create a pathway for Indigenous talent that will sustain the growth of the Indigenous screen sector in Atlantic Canada.
